Hi all,

My 84gtv6 hasn't been running so smoothly since I drove in to work a couple of times last week.  So, thought I'd try changing the spark plugs as it has been on my to do list anyway.  Turns out that I have some dodgy connections from the leads to the boots [AND oil in a spark plug well but that's another story!].  Now the boots don't really fill me with confidence either so I'm leaning towards complete ignition/spark plug lead replacement.  I'll probably change the original ignition coil while I'm there.

Any suggestions as to who might STOCK a complete new set [original, OEM, Performance,... ect] of ignition leads with the RIGHT boots for my gtv6??
- I have searched the forum & found the Fuelmiser ignition coil [PN:CC215] from Repco should fulfil that requirement but happy to hear alternatives.

Thanks very much in advance!

GeeTV I'd suggest that you go to an ignition specialist and fork out for quality. If you are in Melbourne try Dick O'Keefe at Performance Ignition in Nunawading. I fitted a set of Magnacore leads to my Super and was very impressed with the improved performance. Barry

Thanks for the reply Barry.
I had a chat to a very helpful Andrew at Performance Ignition Services.  The Magnecor set is $270, while generic leads can be had from $120 - $180.
The original leads have 'boots' with resistance, while Andrew tells me the new generic leads have the resistance built into the cable, not in the 'boots'.  I guess it should still work & I shouldn't [don't?] doubt him,..... but I'm nervous  :-\

Are the Mangecor leads that much better?

GeeTV, I put the Magnacore leads on my car and then followed up shortly after with an electronic ignition system, all of which combined to give a very significant boost to performance but I have always felt that the Magnacore leads provided the lions share of the improvement in performance. That electronic ignition system has been used on at least 4 subsequent Alfas and is still going strong but overall the Magnacore leads were the trick part of the fix.
At the end of the day you gets what you pays for,

You make a solid case Barry - Sold!
Now, tell me more about that electronic ignition system - What can I deploy for my 2.5lt V6  :)
