Hi Guys,
I got hold of a 2.0L V6 recently which looks really interesting, they were made for the Italian market Alfa 90 1984 to 1987 as it saved a lot in tax to be under 2L,not by much though-listed as 1996cc.Cute looking 6 throttles in line with a 3 cyl plenum on top of each cam cover, looks like the Spica electronic fuel injection probably used a map sensor and a rotary encoder for throttle position in its engine management. Would look great with 6 crossed trumpets down the middle!!!!!!.
I found a thread on here from 2009 talking about a 2L 90,does anyone know of any more of these or had any experience with this engine?.I have included a couple of links to give you a bit of info.
Cheers
Andrew

Hi there,
I got it from a local Alfa specialist who is retiring and he got it on a pallet of engines he bought from ASV in Sydney,it is supposed to have something wrong with it(suggested piston) but I have not checked it out yet.I am planning to put a belt and tensioner on it just to see the compression before I pull it down which may not be for a while as I am just sorting out a 2.5 V6 with tripple Dellorto's in my race car this year and I have just got hold of a 3L Potenziata engine that I will fit for next year if it is OK.

Hi Andrew

That injection system is likely the CEM system used on several 2.0 V6 installations.

I have some technical information on it in a factory manual copied many years ago from a NSW club library one. Is that library still around?  If so I can send you the manual name and reference.

Hi Alister,
Thanks but I am in Adelaide and I don't have the engine management system, you are correct it used the CEM by Spica.
If I run it I will probably use an ecu that just uses throttle position and crank angle,no map or maf so I can use 6 trumpets straight up from the throttles.

I had a look inside the bottom of the engine the other day,I tipped it upside down when I noticed there were very few bolts in the sump(2!) and took it off, oh dear, it was not pretty in there!. It has tried to put a rod through the block but not quite, one black crank journal,no con rod, just a piston crown in the bottom of the bore and another big end bolt missing from another big end. Looks like it will require a lot of work to ever work again!, another project for one day.
