It all happened rather suddenly..

I was browsing through carsales about 6 months ago searching for pre 80's metal and came across a series of beautiful little alfa romeo 105 coupes...In that time I've test driven one, made an offer on one (turns out not a very sorted one...) bought a handful of books and now joined this forum.

Seems the bug has bitten! Now I just need to find myself a nice 1750 (s1 pref!) or 2000 and fully immerse myself in alfa ownership   :)

Well done, it would seem you have been infected by that very well known but not understood virus for which the only antidote is to have at least one Alfa.  Of course that well known motoring entertainer Clarkson also has a very well known view of Alfa ownership in a positive way.

Definitely keep a close eye on Carsales, drive as many examples as you can and once acquired drive the doors off it but at the same time enjoy it and love it well.  They respond really well to such treatment and care.

In a practical sense, join the club if you are interested as you will find solace with a similar bunch of classic car tragics but as well plenty of advice, help and of course events to participate in.

Also in terms of caring for "your" car, the other good news is that at least on the mainland there are plenty of well experienced service providers to help you in this quest.

The key to getting a good GTV is find the very best you can afford (especially one with out rust).   Also online there are a bundle of places here and overseas which offer a huge range of parts to help keep these cars going into the future.  Mind you it is also a double edged sword as some of these people also provide a range of go-fast and other enhancement parts, eg Classic Alfa, Alfaholics, Highwood Motor co, EB Spares in the UK, Centerline, IAP, Spruell in the US, and a bundle of others in Europe.  And then there are places in Aus, inc.  Milano Spares (Melb), Manning Motors (Syd), etc etc.  The club websites/magazines provide a lot of details re this.

All the best and enjoy the hunt for your GTV.
