Hi All,

Really after some trumpet socks but can't find anyone locally to supply them.

Does anyone know of a local supplier in Melbourne?

Thanks

Yes filter sock can catch fire when engine back fire.

If you want something looking better than the tea strainer

Thanks everyone - looks like I'm heading down to Braeside tomorrow!! It's just 2 suburbs away from me so its very convenient.

I was wondering about the oiled socks catching fire! I know my car backfires so glad I didn't go down this path!

Thanks again.

Beware of tea stainers and the likes, they can and will rob power.  I gained 10 bhp when dyno'ed with the dodgy stainers removed.

Also if no fire, socks can get sucked into the trumpet, you will know about it.

Thanks for the info guys - I ended up going down to weber performance and bought some of these:

Hopefully they don't take too much power.

Neil - do you know why they dropped your power?

Thanks

Joe,

Just airflow restriction, similarly with sock or other type of filter.

When Neil races his car there are less chance he would pick up debris onto the intake so he take a calculated risk and run without any filter protection to gain some HP.

You would say he is addicted to having the extra HP :)

Thanks for the explanation hmd.

On a side note - the guy at Weber Performance was very helpful and even followed me out holding an umbrella while I was putting my son back in the car!!

Also gave me a discount so very pleased with his customer service and product!

Thanks for the recommendation

C'mon Joestream with that teaser of a shot of the engine bay & "looks nice in the sun"  could we please have a shot of the rest of the car. Hint: it 's supposed to be sunny this weekend.  :)

Here is an old pic before I picked it up in SA

And here is a clip of some slight revving a few days ago...It needs a tune as it idles high. Obviously sounds better in person.
