i want to swap out my standard ignition system in my 80 Alfetta GTV 2000 for E.I. and believe an electronic ignition system out of a giulietta or Alfetta sedan or 75 will "bolt" stright on"..

Can anyone clarify this from experience please?

Hey ed, I just got a pertronix electronic ignition module, it replaces the points allowing you to use the standard distributer, probably a better option as it means you can retaing the correct advance curve. With the exchane rate as it is i got one delivered from here
http://www.carshopinc.com/index.php/cPath/21_24_22?osCsid=b923dd43a785b366f473698d21eabc25  for $115, havn't put it in yet but my dad has been running one in his car for a few years now and says it works very well.

I've been running a Hot Spark brand system for about 9 months now and am
very pleased.
It's not a serious racing system that costs $400 or there abouts but electronic it is.
Perfect advance curve, much hotter spark, motor sounds a bit diffefent, pulls harder
and burns cleaner.

Same price as previously noted, about AUD$110 delivered and very good after sales service.

Well you don't really need to get anything else but if your going to get a new coil might as well get a new set of good quality leads, plugs and dizzy cap for the extra few bucks you'll end up with a brand new ignition system, the other thing i like to do is re crimp all the terminals on the wires going to the coil.
