Hey all, got a bit of a curly one. One of the studs that mounts the centre bearing/cradle to the floor has stripped, badly and needs replacing, but it looks like it is part of a mount that is spot welded to the floor.
I was thinking of just cutting it away and welding a new stud in, but has anyone come across this one before?

I think it is a fairly common issue if mount has been in and out pretty often and the nut perhaps overtightened. Stud is welded to tunnel but it is quite long and often a second nut can be just added and will tighten on the unstripped part of thread.
Otherwise cutting, and welding in a new stud should not be a big problem. I needed a quick fix before a rally and as a temporary measure drilled a hole through the floor adjacent to the stud and  bolted in a 3mm plate to hold the bearing carrier in place. (temporary- means I might change it one day!)

Thanks Paul,  yep it's a job for next weekend, along with the centre bearing and extension housing seal, and I must say what a diverse selection of cars!
Jowett to Alfa, brilliant!
Cheers :)
