Wheel rim protectors

Has anyone had experience with wheel rim protectors? I would like to protect my GT wheels from further damage and cover up the existing scrapes that were done by previous owners and once, the other day, by me.  >:( It is annoying that most tyres these days fail to protect your rims. No matter how good a driver you are, sooner or later you will scrape a wheel and hate yourself for it.

I hear ya. That scraping sound travels right down your spine. Is there such a creature as rim protectors? I'd be concerned about the look it would have. I've seen cars with those short springer aerial looking items sticking out from the lower wheel arch. I believe you're supposed listen out for them hitting and scrapping first before your rims? But it sounds too gimmicky for me.

Yes, there is one called Rimblades, another called rimskins and there are others. Most are soft plastic with a sticky backing, clueing wipes and a primer that you wipe on before fitting. They come in various colours, including silver/grey and they stick on the outside edge of your rims and around the lip. I think there are also ones that are fitted before the tyre. They cover up old scrapes quite well by the look of it.

Oz, not much input on your thread. Do you have any pics and prices on these items?

They do look good Im painting the 147 wheels soon, may contemplate a contrast to the rim for that bling. Price is certainly a premium though, but still...

Found one negative review though which is worrying;

Edit
Take the price comment back. Quick eBay search produced $70 for 4 wheels with rimblades. They're back on the maybe list. Guys in UK are kidding themselves with their rrp.

I've also found good reviews on these items. The daughter wanted some red trim highlights on her 147. These guys are on my shipping list now, they'll go well with the external mods on I have planned for the 147. Oz rather than silver/grey, have you given the black ones any thought. They'd blend I with the tyre colour much better.

I thought silver would look like they are not there. My rims have a flat edge.
