159 1.9jtd service advice

I bought a 159 1.9 jtd to take over the falcon duties and become my daily driver (besides my unpractical but fun weekend car: gtv3.0)

The 159 1.9 jtd is a 2009 with 70,000 km. The car hasn't been serviced the last year and I am not familiar with this model. What are the essential services which have to be done at this stage to avoid a time-bom?

- oil / oilfilter of course
- timing belt ??
- belt tensioners ??
- Water pump??
- any thing else?

Is the situation with regards to part prices the same as with the gtv3.0? (I get most stuff from the UK)

Do you have any service history ?

The big one is of course the cambelt, tensioners/idlers and water pump, which should all be done at the same time. I always replace the Aux belt it's tensioner and idler as they have to come off to get to the cambelt.

Other than that, regular stuff for me is the oil, diesel fuel and paper filters. Change the oil, check to coolant, PS fluid, brakes etc and forget about it for another 12 months :)

The pollen filter for aircon if you're really keen.  Maybe remove and decoke the EGR valve and MAP sensor, although your car probably has DPF and I don't know how that works.

Enjoy, nothing scary in there..... Just make sure the big one is done on time, completely. And yes you can do it yourself if you have the patience and long skinny fingers

The belt kits (both) are made by gates and available via Bursons. It's usually cheaper to get it all from EB spare though.

Done all Craig advices,

Got part from Jamie Porter (Alfa Workshop UK).

Installation of the timing belt kit / water pump is not difficult on the 1.9 jtd. There is lots of space in the 159 and you don't need special tools.

Love the car, although now I know in black it's a real dirt magnet.
