Bicycle shop cables have worked ok for me, but not the braided brake cable type, but the steel cable type work a treat, i threw out all my Alfa Romeo heater cables because they......rusted up, they got so stiff, they were always coming off, the braided cables work best for the accelerator, because they only have to pull open the carbs, the return springs in the carbs close up ok, but there are cables and there are cables, choose the best quality, so you do the job once, Colin.

Think I'll try a motorbike shop - choke cable should be close. Have also read about guys using mower accelerator cable - no donor car at this point - definitely not a topic ready for discussion with the wife at this point. Failing those, thanks for the link to Fda, their stuff looks solid. Definitely not looking to do this a 2nd time. Thanks for the ideas, they have helped loads..

Back in the 80's i had to put in a Autoclima airconditioner / heater in the 33 and throw out all the original and adapt all the new controls to the existing dashboard controls, the cables from the bike shop worked, but don't get the metal outer, get the plastic outer with the nylon insert, so that it travels smoothly.
Locate the heater tap, where you can get at it easily, as from time to time, you may have to adjust it, or squirt some water thru the heater core, Colin.
