41 mm = 1.614 inch, 1 5/8 inch = 1.625 inch, try a 1 5/8 socket, Total Tools or Repco may be worth a shot, Colin.

Thanks guys, I managed to find one from Toolmart. It is an impact socket but only came in 3/4 inch drive. Had to buy an adapter to 1/2 inch. Ended up costing me $48 but at least I can work on the car this weekend

I ended up checking my press, it is a 12 ton with a bottle jack, it is so old that it is made in Taiwan, which was before the Chinese took over on the cheap manufacturing front, has done everything i have ever wanted, and the bottle jack doesn't leak, have seen a few cheap presses, where the bottle jack has started to leak, Colin.

Auto Pro have a good range of Kincrome, or a specialist tool shop like Toolmart will definitely have one.

Thanks f1, kincrome has one without the gauge for $499 at Toolmart. The equivalent one from Malz is only $255.
Since Colin and Richard have basic ones without gauges and they work well, I may just get the standard 20 ton press without the gauge. The foot print of that is slightly smaller and probably easier to store in the garage
It also has a bottle jack. The one with the gauge has a separate long hydraulic cannister which runs transversely to the vertical press, thereby increasing it's depth.

A gauge is a good thing to have, when you are straightening a shaft and you put 1 ton on it, and it doesn't move, then next time you put 1 1/2 ton and see if it moves, so you will always have a previous reference.
If you don't have a gauge, then you have to go off deflection, say move it ,5mm and see if it bends, if not try deflecting 1 mm and see if it moves.
Handy when doing up gearboxes, such as having a slightly bent shaft or in the case of a Alfasud or 33 gearbox, very bent selector rods, get them straight and the gearbox shifts like a hot knife through butter, Colin.

Thanks all , went out to Malz yesterday and bought the one with the gauge for $319. Came in a flat pack which weighed quite a bit.... Luckily fitted in the 156
Am yet to assemble it this weekend
