It makes its global debut in June and will arrive in showrooms here in the middle of 2009.

I hope these get a crack at the celebrity race at the GP in 2010 ... next year would be better.

One of the best looking cars around and judging by how good a number of the new alfas are it will be a really good car. However; do you really think that it will be a spiritual successor??

I don't think it can ever be as the Alfasud was relatively unconventional at the time with its boxer engine and suspension setup.

I think the MiTo will be a nice car that looks great probably handles good and will ultimately be only as good if not a small bit better than some of the other better small cars out there e.g the Coopers and Renault Clio.

I dare say if there was going to be a spiritual successor to the Alfasud, it would have to be rather subaruesque (now there's a new work) as it is probably more alfasudesque than the MiTo is or could be.

I think the only things the MiTo and the Sud will have is the badge and front wheel drive and a bit of italian flare and even though I am huge fan of the alfasud (own 2 + a 33) the Sud did not have the same amount of Italian flare as did an alfetta or a 105.
Rust, nah that's not rust .... its iron oxide!!!

i feel like i should like the mito, but no matter how many times i've looked at in a bunch of different photo's i can't help but think it's ugly. disappointed by that too. since the let down of the brera ( i was expecting so much after drooling over the prototype for years) i'm hanging out for something attanable that is sporty and beautiful from alfa. the 8c is a stunner and is a ball tearer, but it's the stuff of dreams so does not count.

i've always thought the car which has come closest to being a 'spiritual successor' to the sud or sprint is the honda integra type rs from a few years back.

Nah, I can't see that one ... Good car but way too Japanese sterile and conventional ... still have to say the Impreza (but in a cold sterile Japanese way!)
