3.0 v6, any day of the week.
What are they like to live with? Well, the glorious sound of the v6 at full noise outweighs any problems the v6 may have.
The 16valve Fiat based TS motors do not have a good reputation for longevity.

I have heard that a looked after twin spark will last 300,000 klms or 15,000 with a snapped timing belt or lack of oil change, but the Busso is a true Alfa Romeo engine going back over 30 years, the timing belt intervals are longer in the V-6 as well, but the oil filter change in the V-6 is a major hassle to change it and some don't make sure the one you look at has been changed regulary, Colin.

Good points above the v6 has a lovely note and history but many people recommend a q2 upgrade to support the power of the motor the timing belt and oil changes are more expensive on a v6 as well. I prefer the twin spark if it's going to be a daily driver as maintenance is cheaper and has a nicer handling balance

The V-6 uses a lot more fuel than a twin spark and not in proportion to engine size, but do you know what?, there is no right or wrong answer to this question, just different opinions, Colin.

I found the TS was sluggish in the GTV; it's a heavy car and it has pretty long gear-ratios.  I don't know if the V6 has the same ratios, but if it does it would handle them a lot easier.

The V6 is a legendary engine, the TS is merely a competent one.  If it were me, I'd wear the extra expense of the V6 any day.
