QuoteSpeaking at an investor day in the US on Tuesday, Fiat Chrysler chief executive Sergio Marchionne told reporters and analysts that the auto group would launch eight new Alfa Romeo models, multiplying sales more than fivefold to 400,000 vehicles in 2018.

I think the investor day might have been in Disneyland . I also doubt Pinocchio, sorry Sergio Marchionne has much credibility left with investors having made these announcements  annually for the last decade. Just think about it a mid size Alfa slated for 2015, your kidding, something would have popped out on motoring websites by now if that were the case. We haven't even seen re hashed drawings from  the last time  he made one of these fantasy announcements.

Did he also give them an update on Alfa returning to the US, 2009    2010    2011  2013 etc, etc ??? or did he wait until they were all hopping  into the free  Prosecco  & canapés before he was brave enough to mention that one again.

What is really alarming in this announcement is that Alfa globally only produces 80,000 cars a year . That's down from 100,000 the last time I looked which wasn't that long ago.

Bring on VW ownership of Alfa Romeo. An Italian designed car with access to German R&D that would be something to look forward too.

Shitful Chrysler SUV != 60's/early 70's muscle. Both versions of Vanishing Point aren't bad, original is weirder, but better!

Admittedly we've heard this one before ... but at least it suggests he hasn't given up on his intentions. And if they do invest $7b in Alfa it will at least mean they are serious.
