Basic 156 clutch query

Basic query. What is the usual life of the clutch on a 2.5L V6 156 (6sp man)? My car has done 150k since new, and though I will have to double check service records,  I don't believe the clutch has been replaced in that time.

Anyone able to say when (after how many km) I should expect to change out the clutch on my v6 156?

Hard to say, depends on your driving style and if you drag the clutch. Mine was on the original clutch with 120 and no problems, only reason it was changed was because the Q2 was installed. No need to change until you need to I guess? The V6 clutches are fairly heavy duty iirc

Cheers Meng. I havent noticed any slippage, and nothing was picked up at 150kkm service, but was just wondering whether I should start thinking about replacing it. Hopefully can wait  a least til next belt/water pump change etc due in about 12 months.

Sounds fine then - 2.5 V6 doesn't need the Q2 from memory, so you can probably change it when belts need to be done?

To change the clutch you need to take the gearbox off the engine, so the belts and water pump have nothing to do with it, apart from being at your mechanics, unless it starts to slip, get noisy or the pedal gets heavy, i would leave it alone, as it is a big expensive job.
On a different car, the 33, if i pull the gearbox and engine out, to renew the synchro rings in the gearbox, for example, the engine gearbox has to be split, so you whack a new clutch in, as its just sitting there looking at you, Colin.

Cheers Col, that is what I meant by waiting for next belt/pump change. Easier to have it all done at once ... but only if its necessary!

As a bit of feedback, I had to replace my clutch recently on 2002 V6 - just a tick over 100km - thought it would last a fair bit longer as I considered myself to be a fairly sympathetic driver........but perhaps not ??

I had to do the clutch on my 1.9JTD 156 at about 160Ks (275 vs 218 Nm torque)
... I wasn't driving it at the time but it was returned to me broken

Up until then I'd never had reason to give it a thought and I used it very thoroughly everyday

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I will just play it by ear (or feel). Hopefully, if it starts to show any signs of material decline, it will be noticed during servicing. Having done +150k, and being an "enthusiastic" off the line driver, clutch wear is something I wonder about.
