Was watching Foxtel on Saturday night and caught round 1 of European Touring Car Cup from France. Great to see two Alfa 156 Super 2000s racing and being very competitive against newer models from rival makers in absolutely appalling weather. Alfa finished 5th and 7th in the two races, which were both won by much more powerful (but boring) turbo Chevys.

It even looked like one Alfa was a chance to win the first race, taking the lead until it received what appeared to be a very slight knock in a bend. A classic Alfa moment followed - the door fell off and he had to retire...

Still, they were easily the best looking cars on the track, and I recommend keeping your eye out for the next time it is on TV.

Should have added it was a replay from a month or so ago. Two more rounds have been held since then, with Round 4 coming up at Spa on June 22.

And another thing - great to see the 4C used as a safety car...
