OK, I know anything is possible, But,,,,
Anyone know of a FWD engine conversion been done before as a registered road car? Oh, I do mean to drop it in as the standard RWD.
Would an engineer have to be involved?

GR-124, given that with enough time and or money anything is possible, even something as odd as a FWD Alfetta, the obvious question is Why?
From my own experience, having owned 3 Alfetta sedans, I found the Alfetta sedan to be more than adequate for its design purpose.
I guess it would have to come down to your idea, your money, your choice. Still it will be interesting to see the end result, assuming that you could ever find an engineer willing to put his reputation on the line for something this different.

Barry, thanks for your response, but I think you misunderstood me. I've never been a fan of FWD cars nor do i want to convert an Alfetta to a FWD.
Having never really studied a FWD/East West engine block Id imagine the engine mounts would be the first issue.
The 16V TS 2lt would produce some nice HP straight out of the box compared to the standard nord.
Just putting it out there!

From my reading of the ADRs, I don't think an engineer would need to be involved.    There is the usual limitation that you can only increase capacity by 10% without engineering (so you could go from 1.8L to 2L, or 2L to 2.2JTS.....?).   I understand your thinking, as I've had the same thoughts.   Get the new technolgy and HP 'cheap', and get rid of all the emmissions compromises as the engine only has to meet the rules extant when the car was complianced.    The real engineering would be in the actual install, and I haven't had a close look at E-W Alfa engines to see what the bellhousing is like and whether you could mate it to an in-line drivetrain.   I did see a UK Clubman/Lotus 7 replica website that used a Zetec or something from a FWD car.   They fabricated their own mounts to connect to the chassis, but it didn't look too difficult.

It wouldn't be a cheap installation. Think of the fabrication required on intake manifold and exhaust manifolds alone. Then ecu and everything else. You'll spend a fortune for not much gain.
