I just changed the fuel filter on my 1986 Alfetta GTV and it just won't start now. When I changed the filter, I noticed a small spring,  metal plunger with an o ring and plastic sleeve on the bottom of the filter. I figured it must have fallen into the filter from the top cap of the filter assembly. Not sure how it goes back but I installed the spring first into the centre of the top metal cap assembly, plunger and the plastic sleeve locks it in.
Ran out of daylight but will check to see if the fuel pump is working ok tomorrow.
Anyone have any ideas what could be causing the non start? Fuel vapour lock?
Thanks for any ideas.

Grab the fuel line and suck the petrol out till you can feel it or taste it then hook it back up and you should be fine :) haha has worked a treat for me in the past

All sorted. Turns out I had dislodged a wire going near the coil whilst I was removing the fuel filter. Ran out of daylight yesterday so didnt pick it up till this morning. Car is back to normal now :):)

I used to do this all the time with the 33, the primary wires to the coil were the 'push on - fall off' type, so i changed them to the eyelet type that are held on the coil with nuts and i color coded the eyelets, red to + positive and uninsulated to - earth, how many other Alfa Romeo's suffer from this problem?, caught me out a lot more times that i am prepared to tell you, and didn't fix the problem until about 10 years after owning my 33, an oversight on behalf of Alfa Romeo?, Colin.
