I'm seeking advice on these for a 91 spider.
Are there any traps I should be aware of prior to purchasing one?
Is there a recommended supplier? There's a mob is Tassie I think, but not sure in Melbourne whether there's a local supplier.
Thanks
Derek

I WAS looking at getting a fake a while back and then coincidently seen this on the Stance Works build's forums around the same time. Turned me off fakes really quickly...

Yeah but, the non genuine Nardi is adjustable for reach and if you want to improve the Italian Ape driving position, you just adjust the ripoff Nardi closer to you, and in an accident, the Genuine Nardi would facelift your face and other vital parts, where the Chinese Nardi would have broken off as a safety measure to protect you and would be located in the speedo, whats wrong with you people?, can't you see that, Colin.

Hang on a second, are we talking of the Nardi classico or some other Nardi wheel ?  I ask as the photo is blocked.  I have bought a number of second hand, genuine such steering wheels out of Japan and all have been superb. The feel is delightful, and price seems to vary so much but of the those purchased all were less than $200, from memory the cheapest was around $120 or so.

The point being with woodrim steering wheels be it Nardi, Momo or whatever don't ever face plant one, apart from that I can't see any problems with them.  Classic Alfa etc sell the boss kit so you can mount it to the column, but normally it will require a little machine work to get it perfect.

Not a picture, a youtube video. Link here if you want to watch the guy show how strong the fake is VS. a genuine Nardi. One bends up with no effort, the other shakes the car more than anything else... Guess which is which?

Thanks for all the warnings about fake wheels which I had no intention of purchasing. It appears no one knows where to buy them in Victoria, so today I placed an order for a genuine Nardi wheel from a firm in Tasmania.

Well all I can say is I have bought 3 genuine 2nd hand perfect condition Nardis out of Japan off ebay, and as previously noted the cost including shipping was IMHO very reasonable. Ditto a Momo Prototipo (in its original box) off a guy from Adelaide off ebay.  In all instances far better than the new cost of such a wheel.

Just because its on ebay doesn't mean it is not the real thing.  In the video, the fake was so bad to be laughable if not criminal.

(giuliasuper) I'm in the market for a Nardi wheel as well. I'm a little concerned about buying a fake! And from what I can tell did you purchase from Tas Motorsports? If so are you happy with product and recommend them for my purchase? Your advice will greatly help my procrastination thanks

Procrastinate no longer!
Yes I dealt with Hamish from Tas Motorsports and he was fantastic. Mine is a genuine Nardi and is as solid as a rock. I'm delighted with the result. Over about 10 emails or calls, Hamish and I discussed size, style, colours, the lot. Each time we progressed steadily towards the purchase. From ordering to receiving the wheel and gear knob was probably about 3 weeks. Today I sold the Momo corse steering wheel from the PO through Ebay so the upgrade is complete.
Very happy to recommend Tas Motorsports.
