Hi all,

my 2008 GT 2.0 JTS Selespeed is stuck in 1st gear. 102,000km on the clock. Getting a "Selespeed Failure" on the dash. Checked the fuses (engine bay & under steering wheel), all good there. I can hear the pump priming when driver door open, enough oil in the system. Did an ECU & throttle reset (battery off for 45 minutes etc...), no joy. Any ideas at least how to get it to neutral so that I can move it at all (car in garage, hard to get it on a tow truck)? Any ideas what might be the problem? I'm Gold Coast based, who/which Alfa service is a really good Selespeed expert and won't rip me off? Many thanks...

If you could get the car to Brisbane Ferris Lee at Quattromotive in Nundah is a bit of a Selespeed wiz

Cheers,

Taking a guess the thrust bearing or clutch fingers have collapsed the the pressure plate reference is way out which has caused it to seize up.

Cheers.

In your case there are usually only three causes.

1/ Mick has hit the nail on the head with two of the causes
A/ Thrust bearing, when these fail its a gearbox out job
B/ Clutch Push Rod - but for it to jam in 1st it has to be WAAAY out

2/ Gear selection position sensor - it is the sensor over on the back of the Selespeed actuator, right in
    front of the  L/H driveshaft

I am Brisbane based but do travel to the G/Coast occasionally to help out fellow Alfa individuals when in dire straights. I will PM you my contact details so we can go over the details of your actuator in more detail and see what will be your best options, both in repair & cost.

Hopefully its anything other than the trust bearing  :o

I have a 147 2002  Selespeed Twin Spark 2.0, on Idle it kickes into 4th Gear by itself and gets stuck, on occasions it gets stuck in 1st gear and neutral, it doesnt let you move in or out of gears, once you switch the car off it wont turn back on, I have towed the car a number of times to the Alfa Specialist who has changed the acuator, sensor, fluids are topped up, selespeed pump has been changed, thrust bearing is good, clutch push rod is good and gear selection sensor is also not the issue. my Alfa specialist has advised that that it may be a body control module issue so im currently in the process of changing the body control module, I asked if this is not the issue what could it be, he is also not sure at this stage.

Can any one help with this!???
