Camshafts

We were looking at our bits and pieces to go into the next motor, with particular interest in camshafts. We have a set which we pulled out of a 2L motor (116 series), the number on them being 105200320000.

With reference to Jim K's "bible" on modifying the engines, these appear to be the cams used in early 105's and 1600 motors :S

does anybody know if there was logic in this, or is it possible that somebody made a bit of a mistake? again with reference to service manuals and Jim's book, the profile's appear nothing alike!

the cams in a 116 series 2 litre engine are different to those in the 2 litre 105 engine with the latter 105.48 series cams from a 105 2-litre are"bigger & better" than the standard cams out of a 116 series 2 litre.

Doing this 'swap' is a common upgrade to the 116 series 2 litre and 105.48 series cams usually be found for about $200 a pair.

Thanks Edward, the 105.48's were what we were looking for in our collection. Still a bit confused though as to why someone would put the 105.20032's in a 116 though, because on paper they have less duration and less lift than the standard 116 series 2L cams. Off on a mission to the garage after tea to see what else we can recover. fingers crossed.
