1995 Maserati 222 4V

I'm selling this car to fund overseas travel! But the bottom line is i've got too many cars including 3 Maseratis so this one has to go...

Featuring:
2.8 litre quad cam, 24v, twin turbo, intercooled V6 which produces 279bhp and stonking torque. The motor is in tip-top condition, doesn't blow smoke, doesn't burn oil and a cam belt service has just been done less than 5000kms ago. Serviced by Maserati specialists, Autosprint Motors in Brunswick.

97,580kms since new

Twin Ansa exhausts with factory quad tips.

5 speed manual Getrag gearbox and an LSD in excellent working order. No issues with syncros. These gearboxes were shared with several BMW 3-series at the time and are easy to get parts for.

4 wheel disks, ventilated all round and crossdrilled and slotted at the front. excellent brakes.

Independant rear suspension with struts front and rear with Koni electronic adjustable damper rates all round. Soft = very soft and hard is very firm and roll free but standard settings provide supple ride quality and great handling anyway. Maserati has always been praised for providing good steering and this car is no exception. Steering is very sharp and communicative.

Staggered O.Z. Rims - 16x7 and 16x7.5 front to rear. New new Bridgestone Potenzas 205/60 & 225/60 front to rear.

Car is in almost perfect condition inside. The leather seats, door trims and dash are soft and supple, not dry or cracked. The alcantara/suede dash top and headlining are stain free. Everything inside works, including the Cartia clock. Airconditioning blows cold air. The seats are very comfy and supportive. This is a great touring car with its ample interior room and generous boot.

The body is in excellent condition. No damage to plastics and the paint is very very good. Factory tinted glass. New new windscreen. Naca ducts on either side of the bonnet are fully functional and very cool...

For those people who don't know much about or are scared of the DeTomaso era of Maseratis can be confident that in 2015 all the niggles and quality issues the cars had when new have been long sorted. The 222 4V was the last of the Biturbo's to be produced, and after 10 years of building these cars (Maserati introduced the Biturbo in about 1984) the 222 was well and truelly sorted, compared to earlier models anyway. These cars are very reliable, cheap to service and the engines are as buyers guides state: bullet proof. The oil cooled IHI turbos are not prone to wear or failure as they don't actually produce masses of boost. The engine develops it's power through a combination of quality engineering and design, not all boost to make up from lack of efficiency.  I use a later Ghibli with the same engine as a daily driver. They never get hot in traffic and the electrics are not temperamental.

The car will be sold with remaining rego and a RW Certificate will be provided. However, the car will be sold with standard plates. I wish to keep the Euro plates.

Excellent car. Very trendy 80's styling turns more heads than any car i've owned before or since. Yet, it is usable, user friendly and not expensive to keep...

$22,500
