So what's the go with painting regarding the door and bonnet hinges?
I'm not a fan of paint over the top of fasteners and there's always high likelihood of the paint chopping around the actual hinge point I was thinking of going down the route of getting all the hinges powder coated separately and using some brand new M8 counter sunk unbrakos on all the hinges
Wondering what other people have done in the past

I tried to get some replacements when I did mine - the damn things are a m8 fine thread that seems uncommon.
Still - could be worse - could be a M7 thread...

I always just assumed the hinges we're painted from the factory

just confirmed on my car all the bonnet and door captive nuts are M8 x 1.25 not m8 x 1 (fine)
so not sure what's going on with your car, very odd?

Looks as if they were sprayed with the doors on.
Which would mean paint on the hinges and screws.

I'd have to pull it apart to check, but it was definitely a thread pitch that was not easily available in stainless when i went looking. Maybe earlier cars had the odd threads.

What an amazing picture. Imagine if you could have any one you choose. I think there would be a market for them. I am surprised someone hasn't done it. 8)

The photo is on page 80 of 'Alfa Romeo Coupes 1910-2000' edited by Bruno Alfieri and published by Automobilia.

The book contains lots of lovely photos of Alfa coupes and I posted that one a few years ago either on this bulletin board or on the alfabb. There are plenty of B&W photos of the assembly line at Arese but that is the only colour one that I've found so far.
