Hey fellow members,

is it just me, or is the AROCA forum quiet or seldom used ?

I cruise in from time to time, leave a post or two etc, but never see much action.

Is the club like this overall ?

just asking ?

got a taste for meme-replies there? They are pretty funny

It's a fairly quiet forum compared to, say, commodore or Japanese car forums. Even the AlfaBB seems to have slowed down a bit now though. A lot of info in now searchable since I started the Alfa forums, so in theory fewer posts should need to be made... But some times you get a question and someone gives this kind of response

You need to fire people up, such as a certain type of car is a girls car or such and such oil is good or rubbish, at certain times some people have been told to pull their head in, opinions are like ar5eholes, everyone has got one, Colin.

I've noticed car forums on the whole, are rather quiet.
I'm also a member of a Toyota forum and a Ford forum and both of those are also quiet. Especially the Toyota one. That use to be alive with all sorts of build threads (there have been some crackers!) and technical discussions. The general chit-chat sections still have a bit of action, but big deal.
GTV6.com is very slow, but it still has its moments. It's also occupied by some pretty hard core Alfa modifiers.
AlfaBB is run by the owners for profit and polices forum comments very closely. It's not something I agree with, but it does help to maintain a degree of forced civility. Not being able to comment negatively about a forum sponsor stinks of Fascism, tho..............  :o

But I think it's the nature of the car scene in general.
People's financial situations and interests/responsibilities change. Add to the ever tightening rules and regulation that car owners (especially modified car owners) face, a lot of people wind up driving boring dailies or just have newer cars that are purely dealer serviced.
Plus what jazig.k has mentioned about topic searches.
Also add the push towards purely bolt on modifications, there is less and less forum chat around.
It does take a special kind of devotion to own old and/or modified cars, but there are fewer and fewer of us around.

I think on the whole the level of sophistication is higher on different sites and hence on some sites there are less inane questions asked and as previously mentioned the search tools are better these days so the level of activity varies.OR perhaps some european cars could be MORE reliable than their Japanese counterparts .I also own some German vehicles but they never talk about petty issues as this could compromise their perceived reliability, Japanese dont have issues they have recalls so that no one knows ,The italians however cant wait to have a talk, have a discussion even a debate over a coffee as it is the spice of life! if cars were perfect it would be very boring, imagine a life without Italian electrics?
could be enlightening!

whats the difference between a Lotus and a door to door sales person ? You can close the door on a salesman .

From my limited perspective, AROCA is more old car orientated. If you want better technical answers than go to sites like the more UK based Alfaowner.  If you want to ogle and drive cars <15yo old to the limit and they are V6 petrols go to ausalfa.
