Few cars inspire such universal enthusiasm as Alfa Romeo's 105-series coupes, with classical good looks from the pen of Giorgetto Giugiaro (whilst working at the Bertone studio) combining with fabulous mechanicals to create a sports car still capable of delivering an involving and rewarding driving experience. Originally designated the Giulia Sprint GT when launched back in 1963, the 105-series was initially powered by a 1600cc version of Alfa's twin-cam engine, with a five-speed gearbox and a superb chasiss with fully independent suspension and disc brakes all round. Over time the model evolved into the 1750 and 1300 Junior versions, both of which appeared in the late Sixties, before the ultimate 2000 GTV variant appeared in 1970. Using a revised cylinder head with larger valves, bore was increased from 80mm to 84mm to give more power (with output rising appreciably to 132bhp) along with a similar boost in torque. Other changes included better brakes and a limited-slip diff for the first time, while the interior was also improved, with a more logical instrument binnacle. Fortunately the classic styling essentially remained, with external changes limited to a new grille and larger tail lamps. The 2000 GTV remained in production until 1977, by which time 37,459 had been completed. Sadly relatively few have survived the ravages of time and the dreaded effects of corrosion, but any sports car enthusiast owes it to themselves to own at least one 105-series Alfa in his or her lifetime - they are simply too good to pass up.

Having enjoyed one long-term owner for the past 30 years, this lovely little Alfa Romeo is an honest, driver-level example of this always popular Italian sports car. The white duco suits Giugiaro's timeless styling, with the paint still presentable (apart from some cracking around the rear number plate) and the black interior nice and tidy. The vendor advises that they have attended to any rust issues over the years and that the Alfa runs well. With good examples of the 105-series becoming increasingly scarce, not to mention expensive, this 2000 GTV has a lot to offer. Currently registered in Queensland, the vehicle will therefore be offered unregistered and is showing an indicated 41,550 kms on the clock (with actual mileage belived to be 141,550 kms). This icreasingly popular model will be sold with No Reserve.
