Hi all, I am new to the forum - so hope I am in the right place!

We have a 2001 Alfa Spider twin-spark convertible.  We love it, but we are heading out on a global adventure soon and it needs to find a new home.  I was hoping someone here could tell me what this sort of vehicle would sell for in the QLD market right now?  It is a bit niche, so there are not that many on carsguide to compare to.

It is 2001, yellow, 135,000 on the clock. It is the base model (fabric seats) and has been generally reguarly serviced throughout.  New tires, battery, and we have just done the brake pads, spark plugs, a CV boot and a heap of other little jobs. 10 months rego left on it (just got changed over from WA plates this year)

We have been having a continuing issue with oil mixing into the coolant that we can't seem to solve.  We have had it in at Automotion in Brisbane more times then I can count and it still isn't resolved.  They are saying the head gasket is fine, and have bypassed the oil heater - but alas, still happening. If anyone can shed some light on this we would be grateful, as we would love to fix it before we sell! :-)

We have just changed the top and bottom coolant hoses, but all the other pipes and hoses still need to be done.  We've been quoted $580 for genuine parts + labour on top of that.

It also has an oil leak that Automotion couldn't diagnose.  We keep an eye on the oil and it never goes down, but it must be coming from somewhere? So far it has had no impact on operation.

Can anyone give us an idea? We see them listed from $5-12k... so it is hard to know what someone will pay! Also, are there any car markets or anything in QLD where we could go to get more eyes on it?

Thanks!

Have a compression test done on the engine to see if the head gasket is leaking.
Also have some combustion strips put in the coolant to see if there is any combustion traces.
If any combustion is present, they change colour.
Give the engine a steam clean and see where the oil is leaking out.
It is difficult to see where there is an oil leak when there is oil everywhere.
If they can't solve these problems, get a second opinion, Colin.
