removing the grills from the front bumper, someone know how?

The grills sit either side of the central heart/oval centre grill and are each  held in place by 2 screws on top and three hidden lugs along the bottom. Eper says to use the special tool that slides in between the bumper and the grill to ease the lugs out.
  The question is, how the is the force applied by the special tool, Is it simply slid in and lever up? Or is there a tricky hidden tongue that needs to be pushed back & then the levering up is done.thanks. Have tried both options and dont want to use too much force..
The grills have to come out as there 4 torx screws holding the bumper to the front of the car in front of the radiator and 2 of them can be accessed only after removing the grills.
Have sourced a slightly bent (now less bent) rail for $40 from centenary wreckers to replace the badly bent rail that sits under the radiator still.
  Am going to try and swap it out without removing the radiator. First the grills tho!

Update: Used a thin steel rule about an inch wide a couple of mm thick. Started from end of the grill closest to the centreline of the car and was able to lift up and out by getting a two handed lift from in front of and behind the grill with the rule.

The lugs (on the grills) are inserted into spring steel/plastic connectors which are a press fit into the bumper. You should be able to pull or lever the lugs out with your hands or a big flat screwdriver (might need some force if they're rusty).
