Had someone come and look ay my 156. I said don't use the arrows for the sunroof as it can be temperamental, use the 1, 2 and c. So of course they messed with the arrows and my Alfa gave a big sign that they are not going to be the owners and the sunroof refused to close until I disconnected the battery. I've never had issues with the sunroof if I don't mess with the arrows and it's never gotten stuck before, usually if you use the arrows the 1, 2 and c won't work until you use the arrows to get it back to the normal spot.

Yeah, I got a bit annoyed, I said don't just press buttons, so he just pressed buttons, I spent half an hour afterwards pressing the arrows, the 1, 2 and c and didn't have any issue.  Another couple came and looked at it a few hours later and it behaved lol, I sent the bloke a video on Facebook of the sunroof opening and closing then he blocked me. They didn't seem too interested anyway and kept going on about how expensive services are, where do you get it serviced etc. I said at the dealer every 15,000k to retain the warranty then in between myself so I know it's done right.  The guy pulled the dipstick and was horrified the oil was black, he didn't seem to believe me that JTS engine makes the oil black as soon as they're cranked over and they were horrified when I replied to "what issues have you had" with the thermostat failed open and I had to replace the selespeed accumulator plus a sensor on the selespeed, the second couple just shrugged and said "oh yeah, that's nothing"

Cool Jesus

That guy sounds like the bone head that we then buy Alfas from (ie no regular service if any, serviced at she'll be jake mech a1, stick on aftermarket bling, use cheapest available service items, etc etc) morons.

Yeah there's lots of them. People also look at you funny when you say you can't neglect Alfas if you want then to last.

I like how you described the couples' reaction.

haha

Wow, surprised he blocked you on Facebook. Surely that was an accident. Maybe you should find out where he works, and leave him a note on his car windscreen. Or perhaps follow his wife home from the shops so you can persuade her personally? Maybe kidnap his dog and send a ransom note with pictures of the operational sunroof? He needs to believe that the sunroof is fine, by whatever means.

Some people are not meant to own an Alfa. They just don't get it. 8)

Lets focus on the positive
Do we want people like this owning an Alfa ?
I think as a whole we have just dodged a bullet.
On a sad note my 34 year old alfa has an electric sunroof that works perfectly
wow i here say! well its probably because it has a mazda electric motor.

As the sunroof in my GTV works too, I wonder if it has also been Japanified courtesy of Mazda?

Pmsl. Today I found the sunroof manual. Highlighted in pen was a section on how to unjam it if it jams due to "user error"

I'm starting to regret wanting to sell.
FYI, because I've moved from VIC to QLD it's not being sold with reg but I'm willing to do a RWC.

So far I've had.

Enquirer 1: I want to buy this for my father, would you move on the price and does it come with RWC and rego?
Me: No sorry I can't move much on the price, I can do a RWC and drop $100 off the price, then all you need to do is organise CTP  over the phone which is $200 and drive it down to register it at the RTA for an extra $300, I'll do a fake invoice for the lowest believable price to reduce your stamp duty.
Enquirer 1: Sorry my dad really wants one that is registered.
Me: I can do rego then you transfer it but not for that price
Enquirer 1:

Enq2: Can I come and have a look I'll be there after 5.
Me: OK this is my address
Me at 6:30: are you still coming
Enq2:

Enq3: I want to come have a look for my mum
Me: ok, on this day, here's my address
Enq3: sorry can't make it will be out of town
Me: on this time this time or this time
Enq3: ok will get back to you, what's you address?
Enq3: what's your address?
Enq3: What's your address?
Enq3 turns up a few days later with brother and mother
Enq3: how much is it to service? where do you get it serviced? can the warranty be transferred?
Me: about the same as any other car, I do it myself except for warranty every 15,000k, I'm not sure.
are you going to check the oil, now it's black because of the direct injection but it was changed 7500k ago.
Enq3: what issues have you had?
Me: I had to replace the accumulator and a sensor on the selespeed and..
Enq3: what's selespeed
Me: it's like a hybrid manual/auto gearbox with a clutch disk but no clutch pedal
Enq3: Oh I had friends with hybrids and the batteries failed early
Me:
Enq3: How does the sunroof work?
Me: hang on you need to.... what the? it's never jammed before.
Enq3: let me know if you fix the sunroof.
Me one facebook after they drove off: here's a video of it working just after you drove off.
Enq3: Facebook failed to find the conversation.

Enq4: Can my partner come have a look
Me: sure
Enq4 arrives with hubby: wow, it's really nice
Me: take if for a drive, this is how you drive it.
Enq4 after test drive: I'll get back to you tomorrow, I'll give you a deposit then you can get the RWC?
Me: sure
Enq4: sorry decided we want a bigger car....

Enq5: $2000 with RWC
Me: With respect, not a chance

Enq6: When was the timing belt, variator belt and waterpump done and do you have evidence?
Me: Done on this date by this mechanic, no I don't but can get it from them.
Me to dealer: Hi I bought an Alfa off you in 2013 can you send me the invoice for ...
Me to Enq6: here's the invoice
Enq6: so from this it seems the timing belt and waterpump were not done?
Me: It says it was done on the invoice, the part numbers for the belt kit are all there, I'm not sure how you can conclude it wasn't done but if you're attempting to trick me into thinking it wasn't done so you can offer me below market value I'm not falling for it.

Enq7: $2000
Me: ?
Enq7: for car
Me: sorry I can't go that low
Enq7: I come look?
Me: OK, what time would suit?
Enq7: is manual or auto? I no drive manual
Me: Yeah it's manual with no clutch but you have to change gears manually (I lied)
Enq7:

All I can do is sigh and shake my head, I have to contend with people who know nothing then people who think they know everything and that I know nothing lol.
