Ecu reset

Hi just swaped a ecu and ignition set from another vehicle and was told that you have to programme new ecu to cars injectors because it does not recognise the new ecu is that true. Because when I turn car on it runs ok for 10 sec then idles die out and will not rev . I do not have any warning lights on . So was told have to reset ecu
