Rods, which way around?

I have dismantled an Alfa 1962cc four cylinder engine and have marked and photographed every bit so I can get it all back together correctly except for one vital piece ... actually four vital pieces and that is the rods.  They are of course assymetric so the question is, which side goes to the front of the engine (i.e. Cylinder one)
A. The 'fat' side, or
B skinny side

The workshop manual is pretty sketchy on this sort of detail!

If ever in doubt with these just remember the small end bush must be sitting central on the gudgeon pin. If it isn't, the rod is the wrong way around.
