So Just got back from an Awsome Targe High Country at Mt Buller, the event started on Friday in some pretty ordinary conditions (wet and foggy) and finished up last night in perfect sunshine.  Whilst its not as big as Targa Tas, it's still pretty epic, we covered over 800km and over 250 of those were competitive, including the massive 37km stage on the Jamison-Eildon road, in both directions on the same day!
So massive test for a new car, and it passed with flying colors Only issue we had was a fuel pump lead coming loose of the Carter fuel pump (problem with the carter proprietary terminal), but as I've got two tanks and two separate pumps it was a non-issue. That was it, every service all we did was a bolt check and tyre rotation.
The car performed and handled great out of the box, the steering rack was awesome, it reduced the steering effort massively and made car placement that much easier. The brakes were fantastic and the brake pedal was super firm and consistent over all 3 days. The entire car just worked, it was awesome.
Just getting back up the top of Mt Buller across the finish line on Sunday was the goal, but to Make things even better we finished up coming Second in early classic, our highest finish ever
Bring on Tassie next year!!

Ciao Colin,

What happened at Targa?
Appears you were leading your class into the final leg against the 2002 but then shows DNF.....bummer!

Hey Sergio

Yea we were having a great time, car was flying, going really well, we were catching the 2002 even though we had received a  stronger handicap due to our second place at High country, but unfortunately had an issue due to another vehicle on the stage on the last day.

It was a damp stage, and we were one of the only top cars that had started on Soft compound tires, so we were going significantly faster than the cars in front of us, we came up to a crest and a Porshe that had crashed earlier into a ditch was sticking out onto the apex, unfortunately i had already committee to the corner so was left with the decision of hitting the car (of which we still thought contained the other crew) or going, bush, we went bush....

It was unfortunate and wouldn't have happened if the other crew had followed the basic instructions of putting out the safety triangles and displaying their OK board, standard rally practice but they were part of the Porsche club tour, (insert derogatory comment about Porsche drivers).

Good news is the damage is only cosmetic, I've ordered the parts required and will get cracking on repairs as soon as i have the pathfinder up and running again, the transmission failed 2 days before we were due to get on the boat!

thanks for following the action

I was wondering too.

Sorry to hear.

That's a bloody shame Colin, especially if it was avoidable.

Please post some action photo's when you receive them and well done on hand-building a awesome tarmac rally 105 Alfa. Congrats
