Could this be the future of Red Bull? It would be great to have Daniel Ricciardo at the wheel of an Alfa.

That's great news for us Alfisti but I thought Ferrari was their focus in Formula one. Why the sudden change?  ???

ANG156

Just like all the proposed Alfa models, I will believe it when I see it.

colcol

And by this time Alfa Romeo will have 13 models and a big and small 4 wheel drives and they will be big time in America.
Why would Fiat fund an Alfa Romeo engine in Formula 1 to run against Ferrari, just like in 1986, when Fiat took over Alfa Romeo and pulled the pin on their 4 cylinder turbo supplied to Ligier.
They then rebadged the stillborn Ferrari effort in Indycars for Patrick Racing and called them Alfa Romeo's, the less said about that, the better.
Manufacturers won't fund 2 different car marques to run against each other, they will put all their resources into the one Marque, to ensure maximum results, rather than split it 2 ways.
When Volvo were running in the British 2 litre series, against Ford Mondeo's, they were withdrawn after Ford bought out Volvo.
When the Alfa Romeo 155 was dominating the 2 litre British Touring cars in the mid 90's, there was no Fiats or Lancias to be seen, Ferrari were in Formula1 and Lancia were in Rallying.
If Fiat want to get the Alfa Romeo name up in lights, they should try Touring cars.
Sergio Marchionne will make a great Politician, when he leaves Fiat, Colin.

One reason might be now that Ferrari has been floated, he stated Maserati has become the main money earner going forward for FCA and Alfa Romeo is taking back it's traditional sporting edge path. So it is in Alfa's interest to attract the new future buyers who still link success to the badge they choose to buy and be seen in.

I think the suggestion of Redbull makes perfect sense, as of now no one wants to sell their engine to a team that is chassis and design competent like them...only thing is they need an engine for next year...who knows if they can wait for 2yrs without a contract of a couple of years to justify rear chassis design to accommodate an new engine for a year.

Unless in the interim they use a Ferrari engine that will become...
The Alfa Romeo heritage "rinascimento" (renaissance) continues in each and every new model...the first "rinascimento" being 1915.

They ought to sell out to VW , then there would at least be a chance of a full model range.

Would love to see a 2016 Giulia in Australian Supercar guise!
Not so much in F1 as Ferrari's little brother.

colcol

I wouldn't like to see the Giulia in Supercar guise.....unless it was done properly, look what has happened to the [departing] AMG Mercedes, on the one time in 3 years they won, people said, sure they should win, as they are double the price of a Commodore or Falcon, when they don't win 99% of the time, the knuckle draggers say that Commodores and Falcons are better.
Its done Volvos image good racing in V8 Supercars, but thats because they have a good team and outstanding driver in Scott Mc Claughin.
But racing in 2017 in GEN2 Supercars, [no V8 moniker], would be better than sponsoring rubbish like Masterchef and the like, Colin.

That was my reaction as well. Ferrari has essentially become its own brand now, not part of the FCA core.  V8 Supercars doesn't help them anywhere but Australia.  They need something that'll help them sell cars in the US and China.

14 Alfa's since 1977.
Currently 1973 GTV 2000, 2020 911 C2S MT, 2021 Mercedes GLE350, 2023 Polestar 2 LRDM
Gone......far too many to list

carlo rossi

so if they float ferrari ,would not alfa then lose the Ferrari/maserati v6
I cant beleive they would sell Ferrari because as much as maserati makes money NOW it never used to for 40years
its really only because  MASERATI  is seen as a Poors mans /family mans Ferrari since 2001 thereabouts loose the Horse loose the image .
If red Bull got involved they would love to Buy ferrari ( red with Black horse) and Alfa would get Torro Rosso (red bull)
But if I was Red Bull with all the problems VW have at the moment  they might sell of Lambo now theres a BULL of another colour
Its all conjecture I agree with COLCOL all hot air albiet turboed
