I have a '73 RHD GT Junior with a few issues.

Does anybody know (experience) if it's possible to remove the heater/fan box without removing the dash. Being a Junior my car doesn't have the centre console around the gear stick that joins up to the dash.

Obviously I'd need to re-route or block the heater hoses.

I only ask as I know that removing the dash will be a much longer (never ending) project and I don't want to have the car off the road for more than a weekend. The other really half loves it and our weekend jaunts, general cafe racing, windy coast road B&B driving.

Thanks.

Yea it will be possible, and it's not as bad as it looks.  Once you have disconnected  the water inlet and outlet, the hot air ducts and the slide controls there are 4 m5 nuts that hold the entire box to the metal panel under the front windscreen. Then the whole lot should just slide out

From memory, you only need to remove two of the four nuts.  One side of the flange is slotted so you only loosen them.  Makes it a little easier as the little suckers are not easy with fat fingers!
