So my Spider has a crack in the exhaust manifold, and the mechanic has mentioned that it misn't be easier to put extractors on instead of replacing. Any thoughts on this? I've found a new manifold out of Europe for 400€'s so not sure if that's the best way to go.

Try getting a good second hand one from an Alfa Romeo wrecker, but make sure its for your model, as there may have been differences between spiders and sedans, also there are differences between the twin spark motors throughout the years.
Freight from Europe for a manifold would be expensive.
They can sometimes crack if the engine pipe is bent and is putting too much pressure on the manifold, or the engine pipe has a broken mount and is moving around, Colin.

Your mechanic hasn't heard of welding or exhaust putty????

Will get in touch with the wreckers here and see. Had a look in the Spider workshop manual and it hasn't got that area covered so will have to find the GTV one.

The mechanic has recommended an exhaust bloke so might see what he has to say
