Hi all
So i'm doing a couple of things to the road going 105 at the moment and the last time i drove it i had an issue with the master cylinder that caused the rear brakes to lock on, not much fun on the drive home from work!  Anyway I've pulled out the master cylinder and all the internals look better than i expected, i think all that caused it was some corrosion on the outside of the plunger.  So wondering if anyone has a supplier for a basic seal kit as the usual suspects (AH and CA) don't seem to stock them?

cheers

Has a couple of types.

Speed costs money - how fast do you want to go?

The little piston that actuates the air valve on the booster has a propensity to stick if the car is not used regularly. Sounds more like this seeing it is just one circuit.

Its the little one that comes off at an angle. You must semi-disassemble the booster to get it out and clean the bore (with and old household green scotch-brite). Getting it out can be a right pain if it is stuck... Wacking the hydraulic body on a wooden block seems to work, but I have had to resort to compressed air a few times.

Thanks for the tip luke, i assumed it was the MC as i managed to unlock the brakes by giving the brake pedal a few swift kicks (also helping me vent my frustration of being stuck on the side of the road), this seemed to fix the problem, so i assumed that the rear plunger got stuck someone, but your explanation makes more sense, I'll definitely take a look at the booster also.  I was tempted to just run one of my duel MC with a balance bar setup and get rid of the boosters similar to the rally car, but am resisting the urge and trying to keep this car as standard as possible

Hi Colin,

You can always try Power Brakes here in SA. They keep a lot of hydraulic rebuild kits in stock, have lots of doco on obscure things and I've never seen them surprised. (When I worked in the trade, my shop always used them).

Details:
Power Brakes SA
Address: 613 N E Rd, Gilles Plains SA 5086
Phone: (08) 8261 0888

Also good with advice; when I was trying to rebuild a later alfetta proportioning valve (the one hanging off the m/c) I told them I could get a new one for $110ish and they said that that would be cheaper than them rebuilding it, so get the new one. (Some hard to get seals in those things).

Cheers
