Hello all,

I'm getting used to my new-to-me 159 Sportwagon 2.2 with Selespeed (500 klms up so far all good) - it has a FSH from Zagames' but I think it needs the Selespeed properly serviced - it runs ok and is smoother higher up in the rev range / low down its a bit clunky when cold...but at least I would feel better!

I am in Eltham and work in Braeside (commuting 90 klm/day) which is a wide range of suburbs - is there any recommended service places that are particulary specialised in the Selespeed for the 159? Or can any of the already meneiotned Alfa Service / Club Member workshops do this box?

I like the car so far and like it that I'll rarely see another one on my commute...though heavy the 2.2 JTS seems to be adequate perfomance wise....prior to this I had a SAAB 9-3 Sportcombi which was also a great car (though I left it with the beige cardian intact!)

G'day ALCMQ,

Alex Donnini at 849 Dandenong Rd East Malvern (almost directly opposite Caulfield railway station) may not be too far out of your way.  Probably closer to Braeside is Mauceri Motors in Clayton.  I have had them both work on my 159 V6.

Italian Job Automobiles in Oakleigh is a great source for Alfa bits - however may be a bit out of your way.

Thanks for the reply Colin - Alex sounds ideal as I could catch the train there and back - many thanks!

That's what I do and he also does great work.  :)

I just had my Brera Selespeed serviced at Alfamen. I know that they are a bit out of the way, but they do offer hire cars at fairly reasonable prices, and the work that they do is also very good/well priced.

+1.  Annual service this week; worth making the non-insignificant logistical effort.

I've had 3 instances of the "have gearbox checked" come up breifly then go off over the space of a week - almost always going downhill but the operation of the box seems fine? Can low fluids cause this or is it just the sensors reporting in ?

Anyway I have it booked for a check / service just to be sure.....

My box had the exact same issue, always going downhill. Matt at Alfamen checked the fault and part of the readout was low voltage from the battery. I would check the connections for corrosion/not correctly fitted. Mine has been fine ever since the service :)

Thanks for the info Rhys - could be battery - it's not occurred much lately and since I'm doing 100 klm / day the battery must be keeping good charge...

I've got a booking in at Italian Job in Oakleigh just to be sure (couldn't get in until Friday 25th and booked it last week!)..

All the best
