Guys
might have the opportunity to buy a low km but cooked (lost the coolant) engine as a spare. Anyone had experience in bringing one back to life?

Well the obvious question begs . . . . define "COOKED", as in "How cooked".  ;)

The block will probably be OK, but the heads don't take an overheat very well and will probably be soft.

Question I'd ask is why ?

You can pick up a running V6 156 for less than a dollar sometimes. I gave one away, drove it onto a truck.  What's the purpose, if it's an engine swap then you will need a whole car full of different bits?

the engine may be available and was a low km one. Was hoping to find out more, but has been postponed by owner.
Am thinking of rebuilding a spare engine as an interest. For when I have to take the current engine out.
