Hi guys,

I have a 3.2 GT it's about 64K KM and the water pumps just gone. Whats the cheapest way to get this done? Should I buy the parts myself and take them somewhere?

If so where can I get the kit and what am i needing exactly?

And where is the best place to go around Mascot? can't go to far, temp goes up pretty quick when driving.

And how cheep can I get it done, Ive seen people say everything from $1500, to $2000, but I have also seen figures of $764. So, little bit confusing.

Thanks guys :)

Not sure to be honest, it looks worn though from what I can see. Plus the water pump is gone, so it needs to be changed anyway from what I understand.

I found this

V6 BELT KIT C/W W/PUMP AND GASKETS   Click for larger image   4191026   391.68

Is that about the cheapest I can hope for?

This may help - I had the cambelt changed on my '99 2.5L V6 a couple of months ago. The cambelt kit itself cost A$580 (that included tensioners, gaskets etc, but not a water pump).
Now:    2002 156 GTA
            1981 GTV
Before: 1999 156 V6 Q-auto
            2001 156 V6 (sadly cremated)

To be frank ... I feel you are on borrowed time ... if the belt lets go you will cause some serious damage and the bill for an engine rebuild will be far worse.

I would suggest you ring Frank at Franks Pitstop Motors on 9799 7688 (they are at Summer Hill - he will give you a pretty much fixed price and from my experience do a good job - they specialise in Alfa, Fiat etc and know there way around these cars - no doubt there will be someone cheaper as always but to me not worth risk.

Given the water pump condition ... I would suggest getting it towed

I agree about being on borrowed time with the cam belt, Ill be getting it replaced as soon as posable.

I think I have a fair idea of how to proceed with this, so thanks everyone.

You should give Gabriel at Brian Foley Automotive a call. The phone number is 9546 2661.
Who ever you end up using make sure you get it towed there!
