That is totally bizarre!!  I've driven a number of 1700L Mogs across various kinds of terrain and they are extremely capable even with more road-going tyres.  That one has the tractor tyres fitted that would certainly function in snow.  And with the equivalent of four low-ratio reverse gears (plus another four "high ratio" if needed...).

Surprised that the Polizia still run 159 Panteras in their fleet given they are all at least six years old.

That Brian Johnson (ACDC) Cars that Rock show last year included a segment with the italian rozzers. I think their 159s are somewhat modified, so probably have a slightly longer shelf life.

They are indeed modified.  Like all police cars they carry a lot of gear, and some of the Panteras are semi-armoured as well adding even more weight.  Credit to them for keeping them in service.  At least with Giulia they can now replace them and those Seat Exeos that just seem wrong for the Polizia del Stato.

Well I suppose any form of vehicle pursuits are being phased out, so there's no need to get anywhere quick anymore either.
