swapping inlet manifold (1984-1979)

Does the inlet manifold from a 1979 2L bolt onto a 1984 2L engine?
Im planning to rebuild my original motor and while its out put a motor from a 1984 sedan in the GTV.
The manifolds are different but I'm hoping where they bolt to the head is the same.
The inlet rubbers on the 84 engine are stuffed while the ones on the 79 are new.

If they are the same type of carburettors (Weber/Dellorto/Solex), I do not see a problem. It might be worth purchasing new carb mounts for the existing manifold to avoid the risk of any possible issues.

the centre rubber mounts are different on the  84 its a big U the older doesnt need it
you will have to change the throttle connection it will interfere
the U rubber mount (84) is unobtainium

both types of mounts are available from Highwood Alfa in the UK.
I was wondering if the actual manifold can be swapped between models, not so much the rubbers.
The water passages are very different but I was under the impression that the head is the same and I just need a different gasket

yes the manifold should be fine although it is a completely different gasket
for the 2 different manifolds  should be fine get the old gasket
