dodgy retractable aerial

Hi All.

Any suggestions for a dodgy aerial in an S4 spider. Aerial staggers up a bit, then stops. Doesn't really return much at all when radio is switched off.
Can it be repaired? Is it better to replace? If the latter, are there original units around or does one compromise and get a generic fitted? Any thoughts gratefully received.

Try cleaning your existing aerial as follows.  When you activate the aerial have someone gently pull it upwards as far as it will let you go, then clean what you have got with degreaser and then let it reset itself again. Keep doing this and hopefully it should eventually reach its full extended length. Then lube it all up with some electrical lubricant and should be as good as new.
