Hi guys,

What's the best way to go about acquiring 'the' appropriate tool to remove that cylinder 6 spark plug?

Much appreciated!

you could always just use a normal plug socket with extension bars and wobble joint if you are after a low cost alternative. But if you are after one to get 'concourse compliant' then advertising in the buy/sell section on this site and the US site are probably your best bets...

Thanks guys!

I appreciate the loan offer Andrew but I would like one of my own in the tool kit.
Its not for concourse reasons [unfortunately  :)] so I'd prefer not to spend that much VeeSix,... but thanks for the heads up - Good to know availability.

If anyone is using an alternative that works well I would love details.
The solution I tried to put together failed dismally!

Use a selection of 1/2" drive accessories. I think from memory it was in this order: Plug socket with narrow outside diameter and rubber plug holder that didn't pull out (glued mine in), wobble/uni joint, short straight extension, 2nd wobble joint, longer straight extension, ratchet drive. The 2nd trick was to start with only the plug socket and 1st wobble joint assembled and put them down the hole, then add each piece in turn as you get further down the hole. Reinserting took a little bit of careful feel to tell when the plug was in the thread in the head. Lost count of the number of times I pulled the plugs to clean them when the pig flooded or oiled up.

Nailed it Al! Except I had to grind down my socket walls to fit as I couldn't locate a thin walled socket.

Gee whiz, makes working on a TS engine (8 plugs) seem much easier...  :P
