Hi, My question is.  Is the EGR valve position open /shut or is the position variable? Do you test the valve  with 12 Vdc or do you vary the voltage 0 to 12v  Thanks

It's either open or closed.

So 0 volts its closed, 12 volt fully open, should make a good solid click, if it sounds slow & wimpy & pitiful the Solenoid (black part that the plug connects to) is on its way out.

Thanks bazzbazz, I have cleaned the valve and the solenoid and tested. Another couple of questions, When closed, how air tight is the valve?  At what point does the valve open and does it always stay open or does it open and shut with respect to the MAP and MAF signals?
