Hi All,

Thought I'd post a few pics of our newly built 940 Giulietta QV race car.
The plan is to use it in our local Italian Challenge here in SE QLD and for some hill climbs and sprints.
1st step was to loose some weight so we went from 1395 Kg to 1195 Kg, still some more to loose but not much more.
Next was a roll cage and polycarb windows, and finally a tune with water methanol injection added to hopefully give us some safe power.

Cheers
George

Hi Brook,

Impressive weght reduction. What are your plans for suspension development?

Out of budget at the moment, but when the funds are available it would be good to get a setup that lowers the car by 50mm at least and still allows camber adjustment.

Have you done anything to bypass the traction control?

brook308

Disconnecting one of the wheel speed sensors drops all traction control and ABS.

And that doesn't upset the Engine ECU in any way?

Power remains the same, we thought it would kill power turning off all of the safety features but apparently it has no effect on power and the net result in lap times shows this to be true.
At Lakeside for example we shed 2.5 seconds simply by disconnecting the front RHS wheel speed sensor, similar result at QR Ipswich.

I was more thinking it may throw the whole thing into limp home mode. Obviously not, power on!  8)

Does it throw out the speedo etc or does that still work?

I'd be keen to wire in some sort of in cabin switch to turn off traction control for the odd trackday or spirited drive, hence the questions.

You will get warnings on the dash to say the various systems are not running , VDC, ABS etc.
All other systems work. When you reconnect the wheel sensor you may need to turn your steering wheel from lock to lock to clear the steering angle sensor warning. Other than that you don't get a check engine or code. There may be codes in the ecu but they do not raise any dash warnings.
Just be aware that ABS, preemptive braking and hill hold will not work when the systems are turned off.
