Water pump bolts have snapped on my 916 v6

Hi all,
Just removed my cam belt from my spider 3.2 24v v6,
When removing the water pump 2 of the corroded bolts broke.

The uppers bolts are the ones that broke.There is no stud for me to weld a nut  . The bolt remainder must be harden as my drill bits cannot drill through them.

Any advise wood be good

If part of the bolt protrudes then you can use a tool such as the Irwin Bolt grip or if the bolt has completely sheared off at the base were it enters the block then you can try extractor drill/easy out bit. Just lubricate and soak the area with WD40 for a day or so to free up the rust.
PS : Also I have had considerable success with a centre punch and hammer, just work in anti clockwise direction.

I cannot drill out what left of the bolt and they are corrode seized in. I will go to Bunnings tomorrow and get thoughs special carbide drill bits.

In this case I would call in a Specialist Mobile Bolt Removal Specialist. It's all they do, and they have already worked out how to get bolts like this, in such cockamamie positions, out many a time already, and with the least amount of damage.

Just my two cents.

An  engineers' tool supply specialist would should be a far better bet for extra hard drill bits than Bunnings.

If you have no luck at such an establishment, then Bazz' two cents are likely worth a lot more than their face value. Have you ever heard the word 'disintegrater' in relation to problems like yours? It's the sort of equipment a specialist should / might have at their disposal.

The cost of left handed drill bits will rapidly exceed the fee for a specialist to extract the stumps on site.

If you're still keen to DIY use the old water pump remounted, as a guide for centering the drill bits.  At least you can lower the motor down sufficiently to access the stumps.

Its a very tight area.

BTW you can buy M10×1,5mm female threaded drill chucks to fit common 4" grinders.

Four inch angle grinders run at a pretty high rpm, probably just a tad on the fast side (to greatly understate it) for drilling into a hardened steel bolt. I foresee a small pile of overheated and blunted drill bits, at the least.
