Hello all, have recently picked up a 1969 GT Junior at Shannons and  I have already learnt a little of its history through this forum.
I started with Alfa's in 86 with a 78 Sud ti.
Traded it for an 79 Alfetta GT in 93 but had to let it go and enter a period of company car Falcodore's.
Returned to the fold in 1999 with a new 156, still the family's daily drive.
Now in a position to own a classic, and the Junior was right time, right place.

Present:

2004 147 T Spark

Welcome Campbeli,

Such a good start with the Sud, and all down hill from there... Love the GT Juniors - so it's a step nose right, I think all the juniors sold in Australia were step noses.  Would love to see some photos...

cheers,
Evan.

Ah yes I remember looking at one when I was shopping for mine. Very very rusty, but yes a late smooth nose. Thanks Alister for setting me straight. :)

I very seriously considered this car. I think it was great buying at that price! Well done!

You can drive and enjoy her whilst planning on how to make her what you want over time.

Have fun... plus where are the pics!! :)

Junior has finally come home, has been stored post auction until her garage was finished.
As you can see on the photos she has made herself at home by leaving the traditional 50c size puddle of oil on the floor after ever run.
I'm happy with how she looks, some minor details externally. Interior needs work. Headliner is faded and perished at the C pillar. I believe replacement requires removal and replacement of the windscreen so that's a job i'll leave to the professionals.
Steering wheel is spilt in a couple of locations, replacement with timber and matched timber gear knob would be nice.
Door panel are tired, as are the armrests.
Floor coverings are untidy and need to be either refixed or replaced. Considering carpet from classic alfa.
No ashtray (ie coin box) on the transmissin tunnel, but as the manual lists this as a "luxury item", maybe there never was one.
Window felt guides have had it. Some rubber perished around the quarter windows.

Congratulations on the acquisition.  I had a 1970 Junior many years ago and still remember it with fondness.

Re the floor coverings, consider whether you want comfort or authentiicity.  Originally no carpets just rubber mats!  It is probable these can still be obtained from Cigognani in Italy.  Try Google.

Cheers David

i love juniors and yours is very nice.

Your's is the nicest "version" of the junior, very nice step front with the gorgeous 1750 binnacle dash and the late body underneath. Late body has deeper rear seats tha makes the rear almost inhabitable. It also has wide engine compartment that will accommodate variety of air-boxes without persuasion.
Are you sure it is 69, i thought that this particular version was only available in 1970.

Steering wheel can be fixed and it would be pity to chuck it out and replace with an after market item.

In the pictures all looks nice, is it s case of picture not telling the full story or are you just very picky (not there is anything wrong with it) ?

all the best and hopw you enjoy your new junior

Yep, 1970 it is - Shannons listed it as a 1969 Junior but Centro Documentazione has it as manufactured on the 26th September 1970 and sold on the 2nd October 1970 to Alfa Romeo Australia, Sydney. Original body colour was indigo grey, with amaranth skai interiors.
