Just spotted this on Gumtree..

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/doncaster-east/cars-vans-utes/alfa-romeo-alfasud-ti-q-v-/1192533455

Looks awesome, with a price to match ...

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/knoxfield/cars-vans-utes/1981-alfa-romeo-alfasud-coupe/1192790551

Though, it also seems sedans are unappreciated, as are the more proletarian ti models.

But, it is good to see the Suds and 33's being given more recognition as valuable Alfa Romeos in the true spirit of the marque.

Thanks. This one has also just been added:

Rare to see such a good selection available.

When you consider costs to restore, these prices seem reasonable.

I always joke to people with 105s that my Sud is much rarer than their cars. The Sud is a true classic - revolutionary for its time, beautiful design, uk car of the decade winner and such fun to drive. Still some residue of not "being a true alfa" but that's those people's problems in my view.

With Peugeot 205 prices climbing (arguably its spiritual successor), hopefully the Sud will get its own wider recognition.

It's a double edged sword, that leap in collectibility.

I'm a firm advocate for driving cars that were designed for driving, as opposed to hoarding or just showing off.

My stable! Had silver 16V since 2010, got at 250k, now up to 465k!  Daily drive.  Silver '85QV had since 2005. Got at 150k, now up to 287k silver 16V took over everyday duties to stop this clocking up so many k's.  White 16V  got in November last year, only done 5k in that, its @ 217k now.  Had been in shed for four years, had major service since I got it. Belts, water pump, all fluids, all filters, plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor ... the lot ! Koni sport inserts front; Sachs gas pressure rear shocks; H&R sport springs, all new front suspension bushes and strut bushes. Delete A/C which takes off 20kg from front of car. Basically cloned my silver 16V !  It's much tighter in the body and engine has more pick up ...  still fixing things but getting there !

The 3/4 front view shows pronounced similarities with the Citroën BX.

Funny you should say that CB, I always reckon the rear window, rear end shape of the series 3 33's reminds me of the Xantia  !

Yes, Bourney agree. Just searched 205 gti and they're fetching about 20k!  One of the cars I once entertained buying into over the years, but stuck with the 33's that came after my now out to pasture Sud. Suds' were the go-to cars around the time I was getting into driving, so I got my first one a '76 ti in 1983 ... that got traded on my '81 Sud in 1984.

Almost bought a 2003 Renault Clio Sport 172 that was immaculate, nine months ago, but ended up with another 1992 33 16V ...  The Clio really reminded me of my Sud. Who Knew ?

The 16V's with the mods and lowered 35mm springs/konis et al are how I remember (now) my Sud to drive: Responsive, low to the ground little go-karts. So tactile, so much feedback.. the raspy boxer exhaust, the induction sound!  As they get left behind and taken off the road as being 'Not Worth' having money put into them, the more rare the existing good -looked-after ones are.  But, we are out there !

PS:  Silver factory 1984 Twin-Carb is now $15,900. Down from 17.5k. See below attached:

Yes, can't believe all the Suds/ 33s for sale at the moment. There is almost a glut!

Know the blue S3 which is a Beninca serviced vehicle from new and immaculately maintained by the original owner but has some rust in the lower rear quarter panel. Would do a full respray if I owned but otherwise almost immaculate.

Bourney, the Sud is as true an Alfa as anything built post war and prior to Fiat ownership. Sure not a Milan car but very Alfa. I get more comments on my Sud than any other car I own and is always along the lines of 'have not seen a good Sud in years and my Dad, brother, mate etc owned one when I was young and they were such fun cars to drive'. I guess as they were a mass produced car, many people have enjoyed them.

They are no 105 but very collectable IMO and so advanced from an engineering perspective.

I thrashed numerous 205s in my youth and recall fondly hitting 200kph for the first time in a GTi in 1989 (best mate's Dad owned a Peugeot dealership in Melb). Great cars but no Sud.

And another...

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bathurst/cars-vans-utes/alfasud-green-clover-leaf/1193858406

...  And the Alfasud ti QV badge in the wrong spot ...

Yes, told Joe on Wedneday the blue Sud was on the market after only a month or so, much to his surprise. Looks like (again judging by the images) they've not touched anything from when it's been @ Benincas the last year or more.  With the asking price a firm $8500 I do know that they paid quite a bit less than that ... I actually liked the way it was all original and still had it's single carby engine.  Yes, rust below the rear windows (know all about that...) and a couple of other spots, but no didn't jump at their asking price of 10K. If I'd known then what I know now what they'd take for it ...   well, who knows ...  Already have too many Alfas !

Oh, and another. This time in Tassie:

Lovely collection of cars Philpot!

I have had two 205 Gtis (bought one new in 89) and another in the last few years. Also bought a 2012 Clio 3 RS200 about a year ago and am loving it! Will be taking it to the track!

I have never seen this many Suds for sale at the one time!

More pics. Also put in a new Bosch: Coil, Throttle Postion Switch and Fuel Pump. Shiny !  And last Thursday a new set of Pirelli Cinturato P6 tyres on the best set of OE rims I had. Have kept it all clean and original for its age, just maintained it as it was and improved the things that need improving, like the models saggy front OE springs and not up to scratch front struts. I don't know what to do next now I've done everything on my to-do list!
