Clutch plate stuck after long time in storage

So the title is not exactly what I'm writing about.

I did suspect a fused clutch plate after my Alfetta GT was in storage for 14 years but I successfully freed it by putting the car on stands, starting it in gear, clutch pedal in and applying handbrake.

Now starting in gear with pedal in and rear wheels do not move, I can get all gears.

Problem now is I have an unpleasant whirring noise that appears to be constant, regardless of clutch pedal position.

I havent inspected anything as yet ... I just thought Id throw this out there and see if anyone has had experience with this situation and can confidently point the finger.

I'm fairly sure its clutch related and the opposing forces acting on the clutch to free it have potentially damamged something ... OR ... its just a 14 year old clutch plate thats been sitting dormant for a long time and has corroded.

Possibly clutch thrust bearing? They make a whirring noise when on the way out.

Im happy to drop the front of the box down and pull the clutch housing off and replace the bearing ...

Probably wouldnt hurt to replace the plate itself whilst Im in there too.

The annoying thing is I've just had the entire driveline out of the car for a considerable makeover.

Didnt do anything with the gearbox though ...

Oh well ... if it was just out then it'll come out again nice and easily.

Then again, a small case of CBF may delay that fix for a while.
