can anyone recommend best quality and viscosity engine oil, the engine has 114k dosent blow smoke on start up or on down shift, or under hard acceleration, also require new front and rear disk and pads, anyone know of a supplier of parts with reasonable prices, thanx

I'd try Castrol Edge 10W60 (yes its expensive..) but save on the pads by using the TRW (lucas) pads - they are cheap and work well on the track, or the road.

I have found the EBC Reds quite good for track work.  EBC also stock the rotors.

thanx for the info, just a couple more questions are these oils synthetic or mineral? as i was told these engines should run on mineral, and EBC is that the retailer or the distributor or the actual product for disk and pads? thanx again for your time

Posted the following reply to anothing subject but if it helps ....

At the risk of opening up a hornets nest ... re the use of Mobil 1 .... I would never contemplate a synthetic - full or semi - in an older style engine,  even if it has been rebuilt ... for years now have used BP Corse Plus and have heard nothing but praise for what some regard as one of the best mineral oils ever produced.

We use the BP in 105/116 road Alfas as well as the 116 race car.

I use a full synthetic - Royal Purple - in my wifes 3.0L Spider.
