Hi All,

This is a big ask, I know but would any SA AROCA people have an engine stand with the side mounts to suit an Alfetta twin cam that I could borrow for about a month?

Standard borrowing terms would apply, ie. If I break it I buy it ...

I am struggling to find one to buy or hire ...

Appreciate any offers.

Cheers

Nick

Hey Nic,
PM me - not sure what you mean by side mounts - my stand was good for my v6 mounted at the back/flywheel end. Would that work?
Cheers

Hey Marty,

All done now.  Engine has been out, work done and back in (going for a drive tomorrow).

A friend of mine built a stand for me, see the pics.

Are you interested in selling that engine stand ¿

NSharpley

Nope.

Easy to make though, if you can weld and have some box section.

I could probably make you one.

Mine wasn't aligned correctly with the engine mounts so I would improve on that.

I also think the base is larger than necessary.

Let me know if you're interested.

The standard SuperCheap engine stand will do the job?
Can often be had at a large discount

I do own a mig and can weld but it's more so I don't have the time unfortunately.

I believe there have been many instances where the 11mm bolts have broken on a normal stand.

Hence the side mount stands being the preference.

Thats advice from Vin Sharp ...

I used the side mounts, takes 30min with a mig (tube and a bit of flat) to make a mount.
I've also used the end mount without issue

Drawing for a side mount is in here.

But again all the load in that instance is on one side.

I wouldn't be happy doing that.

Only three bolts holding a 160kgs engine.
