Hi,

A weird thing happens when I go and start my 105 from cold, sometimes you turn the key and nothing happens, but if you press the throttle the starter motor kicks in and out. So with a bit of mucking around with the throttle opening and closing the starter cranks and she starts. You have to have the throttle in the right spot about half or 3/4 way for the starter motor to fire up (whatever it feels like its an alfa after all).  Once its warm or has been driven a while it starts like normal. Thinking it may be a relay or the starter motor itself. Any ideas guys ?
P.S It has a kill switch which works might try and disconnect that to.
Thanks
Cheers

Hey pep
If you turn the key but can't hear a clunk, sounds like the starter solenoid has begun to fail. These are a resonable standard item and easy to replace once the starter is out of the car.  The only reason I can think of that the throttle would have anything to do with it is if you have a lose wire from the ignition to the starter solenoid and the throttle linkage is moving that wire, as the linkage is fairly close to the starter moter so its possible

QuoteThinking it may be a relay

No relay's in that circuit from standard but can be a good idea to add one
good luck

Thanks Colin, the throttle is playing funny buggers with the ignition wire to the solenoid, ill be checking the solenoid out on the weekend - thanks again
